The situation in whole of Tibet continues to be of grave concern. With Chinese Government's outright refusal to allow free access to International medias, foreign tourists and international monitoring agencies coupled by tight restrictions on the flow of information, the actual ground situation inside Tibet is yet difficult to know.

According to a report, however, two students of the North-West Nationalities University in Lanzhou have been deprived from pursuing further doctoral studies. The students identified as Kathup Tsering from Kanlho (Ch: Gannan) and Dolma Tesring from Ngaba (Ch: Aba) have been deprived from continuing their doctoral studies on the alleged ground of involvement in the recent peaceful demonstration in the University Campus by the Tibetan students.

The Chinese government orchestrated whipping up of nationalist sentiments in whole of China following the Tibet unrest is taking the toll on the Tibetans visiting mainland. According to confirmed information, following many incidents of Chinese lynching of Tibetans both lay and monk identified by their dresses, Tibetans are now compelled to dress themselves like Chinese to avoid mob violence against them while visiting the Chinese cities and towns in mainland China.

Though Dabe, a popular cultural figure in Golok TAP, Tsongon (Ch: Qinghai province) has reportedly been released after paying a penalty of RMB Ten thousand, his other companion Dolma Kyi, a Tibetan singer is still in prison. Dabe was arrested on March 31.  Dolma Kyi has three children and her old mother at home. According to the Chinese criminal procedures, the family members of a detainee should have to be informed within 37 days of his/her formal arrest, but the family of Dolma Kyi has yet to receive one.

In view of the ongoing critical situation inside Tibet, we urge the United Nations and the International community and organizations to the following urgent needs:

  1. To immediately send an independent international fact-finding mission into Tibet
  2. To exert pressure on the PRC government to allow unfettered access to free press in whole of Tibet
  3. To pressure the PRC to end the brutal killings in the whole of Tibet
  4. To immediately release all the arrested and imprisoned Tibetans
  5. To extend immediate medical assistance to those injured Tibetans
  6. To allow free movement of people and provide access to daily needs
