The Solidarity actions around the world in the support of present crisis in Tibet.

Hungary –

Hungarian DUNA TV celebrates 'TIBET DAY' for Tibet Solidarity. Duna TV is well known and popular among Hungarian and neighbouring country Austrian and Romania. Duna TV invited both ruling and opposition party to speak about recent Chinese brutal action on peace loving people of Tibet. Both party supports His Holiness proposal for genuine autonomy for Tibet. At the mean time, DUNA TV telecast MOVIES, DOCUMENTRAY FILMS on Tibet. They also invited different scholars to speak about Tibetan culture, philosophy, Literature and arts as well as medical science, etc.

Nepal –

A) Arrests and Injured:  The 71 Tibetans who were arrested yesterday in different groups were detained overnight for the first time. This morning apart from 6 all were released. The police accused the six to be involved in breaking the glass of police van window and said they wanted to charge them for Vandalism. However, they were released later without the charges filed.

No arrest was reported today (April 3, 2008).
 
B) 1. Nepal Tibetan Solidarity Committee has issued a press statement this evening with a request to all individuals and Tibet supporters to refrain from carrying out any activity that could cause inconvenience to the people and government of Nepal during the election process. It also announced that the ongoing mass prayer would be temporarily discontinued from 7th April 2008. The decision comes in view of the upcoming elections here.
 
2. Due to the same reason, after much discussion it was decided that NTSC would not be able to participate in the Global Day of Action designed for 10th to 12th April by TSC.
 
3. From today the 80 hour non-stop Dolma recital will start with Nuns from Kyidong  Thekchen Choeling leading.

D) Pokhara: NPTSC informed us that as of today they will hold 2 hour prayer congregation from 5:30pm to 7:30 pm everyday. They are printing Sherab Nyingpo and Gurui Thugdam prayers for the same.
  
E) On 6th they will organize the daylong prayer congregation as directed by TSC which will be followed by a candlelight vigil in the evening with about 50 participants from each of the four settlements.

Pokhara NPTSC will print about 2000 copies of “His Holiness’ Appeal to the Chinese People” and distribute as much as possible to local people as well as tourists.

Varanasi, Sarnath –

The Regional Emergency Solidarity Committee, Sarnath, Varanasi and the Tibetans and Himalayan People Committee jointly organized a photo exhibition on Tibet on Sunday, 30 March 2008 (report received April 3, 2008).
 
The photo exhibition began with mass prayer for the peace of deceased souls and for the wellbeing of others who are still suffering in Tibet.
 
This exhibition was focused on the human rights violations, destruction of cultural heritage, mass killing and huge deforestation by the Chinese government in Tibet. 
The chief guest of the prayer session were Swami Akhilanand Shastriji, General Secretary, Kashi Vidvad Sabha, Varanasi showed his deep concern over the recent unrest in Tibet. While addressing the masses, he lauded that the question of Tibet is the question of the whole Indian culture.
 
The Chairman of the Committee Swami Rameshwarpuri Ji Maharaja in his address designated Tibet as the crown of India. He further appealed the international community to send a fact-finding delegation in Tibet.

The dignitaries present at the session also shared their views and voiced their concern over the current situation of Tibet.

The motive behind this exhibition was to show the suffering of the people of Tibet to the world. The session concluded with screening of a documentary film based on Tibet.

Mundgod -

Approximately 250 monks and 500 lay people continued to recite Dolma. All monasteries have been engaged in special prayers dedicated to all the lives lost in the recent crisis and the turmoil Tibetans continue live amid and face. Press releases were widely distributed in both local Kanada and English language. Following press coverage, peace march at Goa was started from Margon to Colva beach. 48 hours of hunger strike at Panaji in Azad Mahdan was carried out after the peace march. At the end of the peace march, around total of 10,000 people had participated in the march and candle light vigil from Camp to Monastery, Monastery to Mundgod Market took place (about 14 kms of walk). Among the many speakers at the rally, TSC President Mr. Ngawang Norbu delivered the introduction speech. In speeches by Indo Tibetan Friendship President Dr. Kattimani, Bharat Tibet Sayok Manch president Mr. B. M. Raikar, they expressed their unconditional support for Tibetans and prayed for the Tibetans suffering in Tibet. The event ended with word of thanks from TSCM President Mr. T.K. Tenpa. 

Mundgod Solidarity Committee had also written letters to the Indian Prime Minister, United Nations Office in Geneva, International Olympic Council based in Geneva, United States coordinator on Tibet and the Secretary General of UNO for their support for the Tibetan cause. Both BBC and CNN were handed with concrete information on Tibet received from Tibet.

Dharamsala

Over a hundred people gathered at Lhabsoeri for sangsol. The relay hunger strike continued and despite heavy rain at night, over a thousand dedicated Tibetans and supporters came to stage a candle light procession.
